Health & Safety

*WYFAC must make many decisions for the organization regarding the health and safety of every child due to the sport we play.  We certify all our coaches are certified annually with the USA Football HeadsUp program (four-hour annual CE course) to ensure the safest possible teaching and learning environment for your children so proper techniques and fundamentals are at the core of what we do.  We are committed to player safety in practice and in games so that our children may understand how to safely play today so that they can enjoy playing the game for many years to come.

However, keep in mind we play in a full-contact, full-speed league from 1st thru 6th grades.  Tackle football may not be for everyone.  You, the parent, must help the coaches instill in your child an aggressive learning attitude through the whole season that will help them learn, build and retain a solid foundation for the information coaches are teaching at practice and giving during games as to how to properly and safely play against the top talent we face in WTYFA.  This responsibility also includes doing their given play assignments on every snap in a manner that will prevent injury to themselves and/or their teammates who are playing alongside them on the field.  We want our "little" Bulldogs to have the solid foundation of skills to shine as "big" Bulldogs one day in the 7-12 UIL program.  We view ourselves as a preparatory league to accelerate players who want to achieve %A varsity level starting positions.  This means coming everyday with a great learning attitude and playing every day as an effective 11-man squad to prevent injury and promote confidence and success.

If you have any additional questions about our emphasis on safety, please direct those questions to our Player Safety Coach (PSC), Kelsey Loza, or any WYFAC Board member.

Our Coaches (both WYFAC and WTYFA) are all USA Football Certified with the four-hour annual CE for 7th-12th tackle UIL football.  Find out more about our USA Football certification at:
