2019 Coach/Volunteer Application

Welcome to Wylie Youth Football and Cheer!

Welcome to our site dedicated to our youth football and cheer programs. Our teams play and cheer as Wylie Bulldogs as it’s where we come from as all our kids attend Wylie ISD in grades K-6.  We are a part of the West Texas Youth Football Association (WTYFA)   Our Board, Coaches and Volunteers work hard each year to field competitive teams with a love for the game.  Hope you can join us for the 2019 Fall Season with practices beginning the first week in August 2019.

Wylie Youth Football and Cheer (WYFAC) plays our Fall League season in the West Texas Youth Football Association (WTYFA) which has eight (8) competitive organizations with over 1,000 kids annually compromising the best football and cheerleading talent in the Big Country.  We are located in Abilene, Texas where all of our Fall league season games are played against local schools associated with Abilene Independent School District(AISD) and surrounding smaller communities within 100-150 mile radius of Abilene, Texas.

Our WYFAC players and cheerleaders are proud Wylie Bulldogs who attend grades K-6 at the Wylie Independent School District! http://www.wyliebulldogs.org/

*All coaching volunteers are annually screened through a national criminal background check service and against the national sex offender registry.  Additionally, all our coaches USA Football Certified each year to teach proper techniques for the best environment for player development, learning, success and safety.

Our Mission

The mission of Wylie Youth Football and Cheer (WYFAC), a non-profit organization, shall be to focus our energies on youth development, growth and achievement by promoting an active and healthy youth lifestyle that is supervised, family oriented, fun and educational through the team sports of youth tackle football and cheerleading. WYFAC shall safely provide and foster a positive environment for participants to enjoy great team experiences through our mentoring, coaching and skills training that seek to build up their competitive sports confidence and better prepare them to be successful, not just on the field in their sports goals, but to also handle all the challenges of becoming young adults. Through esteem building and using faith based teachings relating to sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, dedication, sacrifice, commitment, courage, hard work and competitive effort; WYFAC hopes the time invested in our youth will help grow and mature them not only as players/cheerleaders, but more importantly in becoming productive citizens who are actively engaged in their community and well equipped to succeed in all the challenges of life.

  • We value the kids in this league. Our goal is to keep them safe in a sport where questions have been raised about the safety of youth tackle football. Our Board and Coaches are proactive at teaching the proper techniques and ways to deter injuries and allow all members of the team to love football.  We mandate that all WYFAC and WTYFA coaches take an annual four hour certification course given through the USA Football HeadsUp Program (https://usafootball.com/) annually with an emphasis on player enjoyment and safety of both practice and play.  We want to be a preparatory league to get our young athletes ready to compete at the highest levels for 7th grade football and cheer;
  • All WYFAC returning players are eligible to return and we welcome new members to the Bulldog family too!;
  • If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please reach out to a current WYFAC Board Member for all the correct details regarding our 2019 season, including player and volunteer eligibility requirements;
  • At WYFAC, we believe ultimately the greatest reward in our involvement with this organization and the great sport of team tackle football and organized cheer is watching these young men and women grow and learn and have fun doing something they love. We’d love to have you be a part of helping train the next generation of Wylie Bulldogs
